Only 20 mm thick, the new Sony VAIO VGN-P15G/R ultra-portable Laptop is designed as low-cost, Internet-centric mobile computing devices also called NetBooks and is powered by 1.33 GHz Intel Atom ULV (ultra low voltage) Processor Z520, specifically designed for small devices and low power consumption, while maintaining the Intel Core 2 Duo instruction set compatibility.

The Sony VAIO VGN-P15G/R is designed lightweight and small in size making it convenient for use at all sorts of places like in home, gym, trains, bus, planes etc. where a larger size laptop might feel inconvenient.
The Intel Atom processor Z520 uses a brand new design structure that packs in 47 million transistors into a single chip sized at just 22mm (0.87 inches), and the processor uses just 2.5 watts of power which is less than 1/10th of the 35 watts used by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor.
The Sony VAIO VGN-P15G/R netbook is also equipped with Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology which reduces average system power consumption. The enhanced low-power sleep states (C1E, C2E, C4E) are optimized for power by forcibly reducing the performance state of the processor when it enters a package low-power state.

The 1.33 GHz Intel Atom processor Z520 in Sony VAIO VGN-P15G/R also includes a power-optimized front side bus of 533 MHz for faster data transfer (FSB) on demanding mobile applications and a 512 KB L2 cache (which temporarily stores data) build on Intel US15W Chipset motherboard.

Weighing only 594 gms with 3-cell battery pack, the Sony VAIO VGN-P15G/R ultra-portable netbook comes with integrated VGA resolution 0.3 MP web camera built in directly above the LCD display.
